HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport - Read Before Packet - 10/20/2020 - Powerpoint Presentation From Larimer County Department Of Health And Environment Re: Covid-19 Community Update Purpose ●Provide an overview on our current trends ●How we can work to reduce our case rate and prevent illness ●Q/A COVID -19 Community Update Current Status of COVID in Larimer ●Throughout this response, Larimer County has done a great job in keeping case counts low by: ○social distancing, ○wearing face coverings, ○washing hands and ○avoiding large gatherings ○Staying home when you’re sick ●We know we’re all getting tired, but we have to keep up the great work. ●Cases have started going up again, far higher than we want to see in the community. COVID -19 Community Update Current Status of COVID in Larimer COVID -19 Community Update Hospitalizations in Larimer ●Not all hospitalizations are Larimer County residents, as many of our larger hospitals take transfers in from other areas. ●Not all hospitalizations are COVID patients, but we need to have room for COVID patients in our hospitals. COVID -19 Community Update Testing ●Testing demand is up across the county, not just at our own community testing site but also at hospital related testing sites. COVID -19 Community Update Total Tests Per Day ●Testing turnaround times have decreased - 90% of our results returning within 3 days. Contact Tracing ●The most effective way to slow the spread of the virus in our community is quick contact tracing. ●Recently, harder time getting people to answer our calls and provide accurate information. COVID -19 Community Update ●There is a lot of under reporting happening right now, which allows the virus to continue spreading in our community. Increasing Positivity Rates COVID -19 Community Update Cases COVID -19 Community Update Trends ●Cases are rising in every age range, particularly the 18-24, 12-17 and 45-54 year olds. ●18-24 year olds aren’t having massive gatherings for the most part, but most of their gatherings are happening indoors without masks, which increases risk. ●Many of our 18-24 year olds are college students, but they are part of our community and live, work and play in Larimer. Their cases are rising just like other cases across the county. COVID -19 Community Update Trends - Symptoms COVID -19 Community Update Next Steps ●Community-wide mitigation plan submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment - Tuesday October 13 ●Weekly check in meeting with the state on Tuesday October 13. ●Starts the clock - 14 days to see cases start to stabilize and drop. ●After 14 days, reassess with the state. ●Together, we work with the state to determine changes to safer at home phase. COVID -19 Community Update Ask of our Community We know we’re all tired, but we need you to help us lower our case count. ●Wear your mask, this protects the people around you. ●Keep your bubble small. ●Answer the call. ●Stay 6 feet apart. ●Stay home when you’re sick, even minor symptoms. ●Get your flu shot.
