Hi Mayor!
Below is a report from Beth on our progress on the Mayor’s Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness.
Dear Mayor Troxell,
Bottom Line: We are on-track to reach functional zero with the goal of ending veteran
homelessness by the end of 2021
Thank you for your question related to the Mayor’s Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness
which you signed onto several years ago. I connected with both the Volunteers of America
(VOA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families program as well as our regional Coordinated

Assessment and Housing Placement System (CAHPS) to get the most recent update regarding
veteran homelessness here in Larimer County and the northern Colorado region.
First, the VOA is still very excited to coordinate together on a community celebration once we
end veteran homelessness. In coordination with CAHPS and the national technical assistance
program called Built for Zero, the local goal is to end veteran homelessness by the end of
2021. The hope earlier on was to try to get it done by the end of 2020, but unfortunately, with
the impacts of COVID, that has been pushed back a little. However, it’s still very close and we
are all excited to claim this accomplishment!
Attached is the full CAHPS report updated as of September 2020, and here are the numbers
related to veterans:
Currently there are 72 veterans regionally who have been assessed
o 85% active housed rate
43 of the 72 are in Fort Collins (22 in Greeley, 5 in Evans, 1 in Loveland, and 1 in Fort
Morgan)
We are on-track to reach functional zero with the goal of ending veteran homelessness
by the end of 2021
5 veterans were just recently referred to be housed at Mason Place when it opens in
December (Good News!)
Please, let me know if you have any additional questions! Thank you so much for all your
support for this important work!
Sincerely,
Beth
