Re: West Nile virus (WNV) Update
Summary:
The surveillance network did not detect WNV activity during the final week of testing. Trapping
and testing have concluded for the 2020 season. As staff develops plans for the 2020-2021 off-
season review with the WNV Technical Advisory Committee, an additional memo will follow.

Current Conditions: While the surveillance system did not detect WNV, WNV likely continues to exist
within the mosquito and bird cycle. Thus far, the county health department confirmed three human
cases this year: two in Fort Collins, one in Loveland. Additional case reports are probable in the next
four to six weeks as the reporting lag-time fades.
Outreach and Public Awareness:
Outreach has largely concluded for the season, with some elements remaining in place, e.g. bus
benches, and street banners. These items will be removed as new advertisements take their place.
