RE: FoCo Pop Up Event on 9/27/20
______________________________________________________________________
Purpose:
The purpose of this memo is to provide information on a new neighborhood “pop up” event that
expands Open Streets into neighborhoods to provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and
neighborhood connection in COVID-safe ways.
The Bottom Line:
Neighborhood Services, FC Moves, and Fort Collins Connexion are working together to get
neighbors outside and connected on September 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the FoCo Pop
Up. The event brings a network of pop up activities to neighborhoods across the city, connected
by low-stress bike routes. Spacing scheduled booths from City departments and community
partners will keep crowd sizes within County Health Department recommendations and bring
the fun right into neighborhoods!
Pop up partners and events included:
FC Moves, Neighborhood Services, Fort Collins Utilities, Art in Public Places, Natural
Areas, Recreation, Poudre River Public Library District, Larimer County Boys & Girls
Club, Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, Rocky Mountain Raptor Center, and Bohemian
Foundation.
Participants can choose other passive, self-guided activities from Historic Preservation,
Save the Poudre, Fort Collins Utilities, Forestry, Art in Public Places, and CSU RamTrax.

Neighborhoods will also be popping up activities of their own along the low-stress bike
routes for participants to enjoy.
Thanks to event sponsor, Fort Collins Connexion, the first 15 registered neighborhoods will
receive a “goodie bag” with sidewalk chalk, hand sanitizer, and outdoor activity supplies; all
registered neighborhoods are eligible for “door prizes”; and the neighborhood trivia contest
winner will receive a prize basket. Councilmembers and City Leaders are encouraged to stop by
FoCo Pop Up locations on September 27th to play outside and celebrate Fort Collins
neighborhoods. Visit https://www.fcgov.com/neighborhoodservices/ for updates on locations,
trivia contest information, and schedule.
Background:
Public gathering restrictions due to COVID-19 have forced the cancellation or modification of
many public events historically hosted by City departments. Open Streets Fall 2020 was initially
scheduled for September 27th, but the traditional model of the event in one location does not
align with Larimer County Health Department guidance on public gatherings. Open Streets Fall
2020 has been adapted by FC Moves to a month-long Open Streets, Healthy Streets that are
walkable and bikeable on a daily basis, with added extra measures to calm traffic and create
safer places to exercise and maintain safe social connections with your neighbors and friends.
