Olive Street, Fort Collins, Colorado 221-6740 www.poudrelibraries.org OUR MEMBER STORIES THANK-YOU! 2018 Report to the Community LEADERSHIP A message from the Executive Director Library District Board of Trustees: David Slivken executive director Ken Draves deputy director & harmony library manager Eileen McCluskey old town library manager Currie Meyer council tree library manager Jeff Barnes finance officer Mark Huber it manager Johanna Ulloa outreach services manager Tova Aragon collections manager Paula Watson-Lakamp communications manager Sabrina Strømnes human resources manager I am pleased to share with you our 2018 report to the community, which provides an essential overview of the Poudre River Public Library District’s financial and statistical information. While the value of the library is clearly evident in the data we share, the library’s true impact goes far beyond these figures. Our tagline, Connect to Curiosity, champions our commitment to connect people with information and promote the love of reading in our community. As you read through the annual report, you can envision that each day at the Poudre River Public Library District is filled with community members making these connections. Whether it’s answering our customer’s questions, leading a book club discussion, re-shelving materials, working with our partners, hosting storytimes, and doing numerous other tasks, it is done in the spirit of welcoming all who use our services. We all want everyone’s library experience to be positive, rewarding, informational, educational, and entertaining. Our goal is to fulfill the library’s Mission Statement: “We enrich our community by providing universal access to resources for knowledge, innovation, and enjoyment.” The library would not be able to accomplish our mission without our dedicated, innovative and customer-focused staff. Additionally, we must thank the Poudre River Friends of the Library and the Poudre River Library Trust for their ongoing advocacy and financial support of our Library District. Most importantly, we want to thank you--our library users, partners, volunteers, and visitors who recognize the value of the library as a community connector to learn and discover. Libraries facilitate this opportunity for everyone and make enlightenment possible as well!” “My husband and I are avid movie viewers… I can’t tell you how many wonderful series we have gotten from the library... In fact, the library has proven to be a better source of quality series than Netflix! We always love discovering new series.” “The library here in Fort Collins is the best I’ve ever seen. People are friendly and helpful, and the overall offerings are superb! And I’m a tech guy so I especially like the tech offerings. I can have my phone read me a book at the end of the day when my eyes are tired. I get really great service and it’s free, which is even more incredible!” “I have had the opportunity to leverage the library’s resources for both business purposes, as well as to help me with a job search. In both instances, I was amazed at the array of information provided to me… Our community is blessed to have incredibly extensive resources that every citizen can leverage!” “The library and all it offers is part of our lives. Each week we make use of the services, check out books and movies, and participate in training, and most importantly, we feel appreciated and welcomed. Thank you for all you do for our community generally and especially our Hispanic community.”
