Dear Mr. Cagen and Board Members:
On behalf of City Council, thank you for providing us the December 20, 2018 memorandum
regarding “Keep Fort Collins Great (KFCG) 0.85% sales tax” discussion which will be coming
before Council on January 2, 2019. Thank you also for taking time to meet with me in person
recently to discuss your thoughts.
We appreciate you sharing your perspective on this important topic and the Board’s detailed
recommendations including shifting .60 of the .85 KFCG rate to the base tax, proposing a .25
permanent dedicated tax for O&M of parks and recreation programs and facilities, considering
increasing the overall tax burden on the community, and thinking strategically about linking
planning efforts with funding opportunities.
We sincerely appreciate your comments and will discuss this item during the Work Session on
January 2, 2019. We encourage you to view on FCTV, online, or attend in person, if you wish.
Thank you again for writing.
Best Regards,
Wade Troxell
