RE: 100% Renewable Electricity Goal – Resolution Timeline Update
Purpose: This memo provides an update on the timeline for bringing forward a Resolution for Council
consideration to adopt a community wide 100% Renewable Electricity (100RE) goal by 2030.
Bottom Line: Based on Council Direction at the July 2 meeting, staff is proposing to bring forward a
100RE Resolution for consideration at the October 2 Council meeting. Based on the meeting with Fort
Collins Sustainability Group (FCSG) and Fort Collins Partners for Clean Energy (FCP4CE), staff will
be proposing several modifications to the Resolution, including a mid-course check in to ensure that
100RE is the most cost-effective solution to achieve the 2030 CAP Goals of an 80% reduction below
2005 levels.
Proposed Timeline:
The following engagement opportunities are proposed to develop the 100RE Resolution:
• City Boards and Commissions
o Natural Resources Advisory Board – August 15
o Economic Advisory Commission – August 15 (tentative)
o Air Quality Advisory Board – August 20
o Energy Board – September 13
• Additional community groups/stakeholders
o CEO Round Table – staff is working with Economic Health and Utilities Customer
Accounts to determine an appropriate date for this event; anticipated
August/September timeframe and will engage 6-12 CEOs.
o Chamber Local Legislative Affairs Committee – August 10, 17, or 24
o FCSG and FCP4CE – mid-September
o Corporate Customers who have requested 100RE (separate tariff) – currently being
planned with Platte River; anticipated the meeting will be held in Q3
In addition to these groups, staff met with FCSG and FCP4CE Representatives on July 5. Staff would
also welcome visiting with additional stakeholder and community groups as identified.
Next Steps:
• Staff has updated the six-month calendar to include the recommended Resolution on the
October 2, 2018 Council Meeting.
