RE: Time-of-Day Outreach Campaign
In May Utilities launched outreach and communications for the Time-of-Day (TOD) rate change
effective in October 2018. Below is a summary of the activities to date, as well as the regularly
planned outreach.
The TOD outreach includes several activities intended to bring awareness and provide education
on usage best practices, including:
Social media posts
City events
Newsletter articles
Employee awareness
Website spotlights and landing page
The plan is robust and regular with the launch and through the first year. After year one rate
communications will continue, as has been practiced annually.
Attached is an example of the campaign messaging.

to Time-of-Day (TOD) Electric Pricing
for All Residential Customers
With TOD pricing, when you use electricity is as
important as how much electricity you use. The price
you pay changes based on the time of day, the day of
the week and the season.

NON-SUMMER
OCTOBER–APRIL
Here’s How It Will Work
TOD has two levels of pricing: on-peak and off-peak, and two seasons: summer and
non-summer. On-peak hours cost more because that’s when electricity use is highest.
• On-peak non-summer (October–April) hours: 5–9 p.m., weekdays only.
• On-peak summer (May–September) hours: 2–7 p.m., weekdays only.
• Off-peak hours are the remaining 19–20 hours of the day, weekends and major
holidays, and will be priced approximately 30 percent less than current electric rates.
Aids and services are available for persons with disabilities.

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 2018
Take Control of
Your Electric Bill
TOD pricing gives you the
flexibility to control your
electric bill:
• SHIFT your electric
use to off-peak times.
• USE LESS during
on-peak hours.
• REDUCE your overall
electric use.
Remember, it’s not just about
using less electricity, it’s also
about using electricity at the
right times.
