At the Council work session on October 10, 2017, the Economic Health Office presented a status
update on the Business Engagement Action Plan. As a follow-up, Council requested a tool kit to
support their own business engagement. The City Council Business Engagement Resource Kit
has been created in response.
This document also supports Council's identified priorities of small business visibility and
business retention and expansion under Economic Health of the community.
The City Council Business Engagement Resource Kit is designed as a self-directed tool. There
are several tactics that include the help of the Economic Health Office. In any case, the
Economic Health Office is available to support Council with any of the tactics listed in the kit if
requested. A feedback mechanism is also included in the kit and hard copies of feedback cards
have been included in your packet. Additional copies can be made available upon request.
This kit includes ways to engage from a community level (special events, association and group
meetings, tours, discussion questions, industry roundtables, and business survey) and district
level (site visits and business listening sessions). It also includes three appendices as supportive
material.
The Economic Health Office will update this kit on an annual basis. If you need further data or
information to support your engagement, or have questions about the kit, please reach out.
