FYI /sek
WELCOME TO THE RAMBASSADOR PROGRAM!
We are thrilled that you are serving in this important program as
we strive to create the nation’s best football game day experience.
With your commitment, assistance, and enthusiasm, we have the
necessary ingredients to make every visitor to our campus feel
extraordinarily special. The CSU campus is stunningly beautiful
and the new stadium has been intentionally designed to engage
people with this remarkable institution.
We have contemplated every aspect of an on-campus football
game day experience including parking, traditional and
programmed tailgating, shuttle service, public transit, bicycle and
pedestrian access, entertainment, venue ingress and egress, event
management, public safety, and countless other elements. The
“secret sauce” of this recipe is you and your willingness to interact
with visitors, offer a warm greeting and smile, provide accurate
information, and show them the overwhelming pride we all share
in being a CSU Ram.
Please familiarize yourself with the material in this welcome
guide. It is a comprehensive tool packed full of useful
information. As you embrace this opportunity, please accept my
heartfelt gratitude for your service and stewardship while helping
Colorado State University deliver an incredible experience to
every campus visitor.
Thank you!
Joe Parker
Director of Athletics, Colorado State University

VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
TRAINING AND SUPPORT
Colorado State University and Visit Fort Collins offer free
educational sessions to inform and acquaint you with key
informational points to share with guest attending football
games for the 2017 season. Individuals volunteering will be
provided with visitor guides and maps of the University and
City of Fort Collins. There will also be stadium information,
parking, transportation routes, and wayfinding information to
enhance all game day or weekend activities.
IMPORTANT INFORMATIONAL WEBSITES FOR
GUEST ASSISTANCE:
csurams.com
www.visitftcollins.com
www.transfort.com
www.downtownfortcollins.com
If a Guest shares a concern that you cannot immediately answer,
contact either Gary Ozzello from Colorado State University, (970)
222-3361, or Cynthia Eichler from Visit Fort Collins, (970) 218-9726,
for assistance at that time or for future resolution.
GAME DAY ATTIRE AND POLICY
Volunteers will be given an identifying lanyard, name badge,
and a ticket to attend the game immediately following the
volunteer shift. Lanyards and name badge identification must
be present during the volunteer shift. Appropriate game day
attire includes:
• Khakis or nice jeans (suitable to wear to a professional
environment, no holes, and appropriately sized for each
individual, meaning not too big or small)
• CSU-issued game day gear including polo or long-sleeved
shirt, jacket if needed, and hat.
• No attire from any other university or organization may be worn.
6
• All accessories must be professional and neat, representing all
above mentioned entities to the highest standard.
• Hair and personal appearance must be neat and professional.
Deodorant must be worn and sunscreen is suggested for
personal skin protection.
• The Rambassador Guide should be with you at all times while
volunteering.
TIME COMMITMENT
Each game day volunteer will need to be at their assigned
Rambassador location 2.5 hours prior to kick off. It is important
to be fully ready and active at that Rambassador start point.
Many Guests will be actively in transition to the game and our
volunteers must be ready to greet, guide, and inform.
We ask that volunteers stay until two minutes prior to kick off to
ensure final questions are navigated for those still in transition
to attend the game.
ATTENDANCE
If you have a significant reason that causes you to be late or
to anticipate an absence please communicate that as soon as
possible to allow coordinators to replace or adjust volunteer
staffing levels.
If you do not provide advanced notice of either of these
situations it could result in not being able to participate in
future volunteer activities. Consistency for volunteers is key in
allowing the Rambassadors to provide excellence in greeting,
guidance, and information.
‘No shows’ will not be tolerated and will result in removal from
the volunteer opportunity roster.
7

Little things mean a lot and can make or break a Guest’s
experience. Do your best at all times.
• Cell phones should only be used to assist a Guest during
volunteer shifts. This may include accessing one of the
informational websites, for additional directions or to confirm
an address, or to call on behalf of a guest for an appropriate

without an extension should not operate a generator.
• Animals must be kept on a leash of six feet or shorter in all
tailgating areas.
• Owners must remain in control of their animals at all times.
• All buildings on campus, including the stadium, do not allow
animals with the exception of service dogs for individuals
with disabilities.
• Music must be confined to individual tailgating areas and
speakers must be directed into the individual tailgate area.

motorized recreational vehicles are prohibited with the
exception of emergency and authorized University personnel.

designated containers.
GREEN TAILGATING TIPS
• Bring a portable radio. Keeping your car on to use the radio
is bad for your engine and wastes unnecessary gas.
• Carpool. Carpooling to the game will reduce the amount of
emissions you and your friends’ cars are emitting into the air.
• Recycle. Recycling saves energy and resources that go into
making new products.
• Shop local. Shopping local means that your food/drink has
traveled significantly fewer miles to get to you and thus
reduces the environmental impact.
30
• Use propane as your grilling method of choice. It burns
cleaner than traditional charcoal or wood grills, and creates
less waste.
• Use reusable cups. Plastic and styrofoam cups are wasteful
and can be significant contributors to landfills.
