Dedicated volunteers – the fundamental strength of the pilot project – helped the program succeed. More than 60 volunteers contributed more than 1,250 hours of service in the pilot season. Volunteers managed satellite sites, provided safe transportation, and delivered welcoming and compassionate hospitality. Their significant investment of time, learning and improvement helped realize a vision for a volunteer and community-based overnight shelter program in Fort Collins. From this modest but mighty pilot, we can continue to find organizations to get involved and invest in the compassionate community coalescing around Safe Place to Rest.
