Gertig, Utilities Executive Director RE: Article by Colorado State University: Review of Colorado Water and Watershed Risks related to Forest Fires The Colorado Water Institute (Colorado State University) has published its March/April 2017 Colorado Water newsletter. I’d like to share an article of interest from this edition that provides an excellent review of Colorado water as it relates to risks for watersheds and protection from forest fires. You may download “Protecting Watersheds and Water Supplies from Forest Fires” by Brad Piehl, Watershed Planner, JW Associates Inc. by visiting http://www.cwi.colostate.edu/current_newsletter.asp (pages 27-31). Along the front range of Colorado, resiliency planning will continue to be a key theme for Utilities. Our precious watershed and planning for drought, wildfire and floods are key planning factors for the City of Fort Collins. The most recent publication from our Colorado Water Institute has covered many of the issues we have faced and could face in the future as we continue to plan for a resilient future.
