First, do you know what you’re really signing onto? The Climate Action Agenda’s positions do not accurately reflect the more measured, pragmatic climate action policies of Fort Collins. The January 3, 2017 letter sent by Mayor Troxell, on the other hand, appropriately explains the current situation and the community’s views. Second, what would we gain from alienating an administration that will be in power for at least the next four years? The Fort Collins economy benefits from federal offices, employment and grants. Sending an antagonistic, partisan-sounding letter will not change the Trump administration’s views on climate issues, but could adversely impact the local economy if retribution occurs. In short, there is no benefit to sending the letter, but there could be negative impacts. We encourage you to not support Resolution 2017-005. Sincerely, Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce David L. May President & CEO cc: Darin Atteberry
