RE: Question from Mayor Troxell re: the Drinking Water Quality Report during
the June 13 Leadership Planning Team Meeting
Question from Mayor Troxell on the Water Report: Mayor Troxell suggested that the City’s
2015 Drinking Water Report for the public contain the same required reports (perhaps in an
appendix) of the other two water providers. Staff is asked to consider what other efficiencies can
be gained by bundling efforts with Fort Collins-Loveland Water District (FCLWD) and East
Larimer County Water District (ELCO), and suggested a meeting with staff and the Council
representatives (Mayor Pro Tem Horak and Councilmember Campana) to further explore
options.
Answer: Staff is verifying whether or not the Colorado Department of Public Health (CDPHE)
will allow the combination of other District Water Quality Reports into the Utilities Drinking
Water Quality Report. If this practice is allowable, and if the neighboring Districts publish their
Reports before the Utilities publication, Utilities will incorporate both reports as appendices next
year.
In the meantime, Utilities is proposing to link to FCLWD and ELCO Water Districts’ Water
Quality Reports on our web page (http://www.fcgov.com/utilities/what-we-do/water/water-
quality/water-quality-report-2015), and also add an interactive map where citizens can determine
which water provider serves their home or business.
City Council is considering a resolution on June 21, 2106 to appoint Mayor Pro Tem Horak and
Councilmember Campana to the Water Collaboration Committee. It is anticipated that future
efficiencies and bundling of reports will be discussed at an upcoming Committee meeting.
