Objective
To help reduce underage consumption of alcohol and marijuana by
holding a host responsible when:
• They are present; and
• They have control of premise

We expect social host to help with
prevention by:
• Encouraging hosts to find out who
is at their party
• Expecting hosts to monitor what is
occurring; and
• Reducing the availability of places
where underage consumption
occurs

Recommendation
Staff recommends adopting the proposed Social Host ordinance to:
• Help deter underage consumption of alcohol and marijuana
• Enhance enforcement options
• Facilitate enforcement in non-nuisance settings
• Improve health and safety of the Community
