BACKGROUND
As we near the end of another City Council term, it is important to look back and acknowledge the work
and impact that the sitting Council has had and will continue to have on the community now and in the
future.
The City of Fort Collins continues to improve as an organization and Council is a large part of that work.
It’s not just how many ordinances are passed (although that list is impressive.) The more impressive
work is the steering, guiding, and continued attention to making this community the best it can be.
Beyond the work plan initiatives and budget work, this Council should be recognized for driving the
creation of the first City Strategic Plan. This effort and plan have been instrumental in creating greater
systematic alignment throughout the organization and ultimately resulting in quality services for citizens.
This Council passed over 300 ordinances and
over 200 resolutions during their term.

Council has been the driver behind the creation and
implementation of the Strategic Plan. This plan, and
the process to create and update it, will become a tried
and true practice for City operations from here forward.
The City’s commitment to developing, maintaining, and nurturing significant partnerships
helps us all to do more together than we could do alone. The reintroduction of an
endangered species on public lands is a remarkable example.
