Namely, these proposals are special. They are about doing something significant for the community, projects that set Fort Collins apart that have a substantial and enduring impact. To that end, the Chamber believes a community’s transportation infrastructure and the mobility it fosters is a key element of its quality of life, safety and economic viability. We also believe that cultural amenities and recreational opportunities in the Fort Collins area are an important part of our identity and our local economy. As drafted, the projects being considered for the sales tax renewal are generally aligned with these ideals. making the package attractive to both residents and businesspeople. While we will not make a formal endorsement of this ballot measure until adoption of the final package by Council, we are encouraged by what we see in the proposal. Unless it changes dramatically during your deliberations in a manner that moves away from the spirit cited above, we encourage you to provide voters with the opportunity to consider this sales tax renewal. Sincerely, Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce David L. May President & CEO cc: Darin Atteberry January 20, 2015 Agenda Item #13
