Fort Collins City Council
300 LaPorte Ave.
Fort Collins, CO 80521
Dear Mayor Weitkunat, Mayor Pro Tem Horak, and Council Members Campana,
Cunniff, Overbeck, Poppaw and Troxell;
Tonight you are receiving and update on the West Central Area Plan/Prospect Corridor
Design. We are encouraging the Council to strongly support the plan as it is presented
and to consider adding the Prospect Corridor Design into the BOB2.0 conversation.
We had the pleasure of receiving an update on the project from Amy Lewin and Ted
Shepard and appreciate the following:
• The Prospect Corridor Design is aspirational, while focusing on mobility in a key
travel corridor. We especially appreciate the design elements including the shared
bike/pedestrian path, the center turn lane and four travel lanes that allow for all
modes of transportation to move effectively along a challenging corridor.
• As well, the recommended improvements to Lake Street that will allow for an
alternative route for all models of travel are equally impressive.
• We do encourage the Council to consider including the Prospect Road Corridor
Design Cost into BOB2.0. This project requires a fairly limited amount of money
and will be a "game changer" for this corridor and our community.
• We appreciate the work that staff has done on this project and their focus on
improving the basic roadway and mobility of the corridor. We are hopeful that this
kind of conversation and focus will continue when considering future
transportation plans.
We are hopeful that you will fast track the adoption of this plan as it has been presented
and will include the Prospect Road Corridor improvements in BOB2.0.
Sincerely,
Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce
