RE: Bob 2 Tax Recommendations
Per your request for Boards and Commissions to review the suggested CNL initiatives for
possible implementation should the voters choose to extend the BOB 2 tax, HRC reviewed and
discussed these projects during the September 11 HRC meeting. HRC chose the following 6
initiatives that we feel best meet the objectives and mission of the Human Relations Commission
and are closely aligned with City Council “Outcomes” efforts.
* CNL1: Housing for Chronically Homeless (Homeward 2020)
CNL2: Project ADA sidewalk compliance/pedestrian plan /arterial pedestrian
crossings; a continuation of BOB1 project
CNL3: ADA Bus stop improvements
CNL4: Lincoln Neighborhood projects
CNL5: Sustainable Child Care center
CNL7: Neighborhood revitalization investments.
*Regarding CNL1: Housing for Chronically Homeless. A number of HRC Commissioners
shared concerns regarding the support system offered and the implementation of the project as
permanent housing. Support services tend to depend on political will and without ongoing
supportive services the housing area could become problematic. In addition, several
Commissioners would prefer that a plan be in place to move residents into conventional housing
in the community as soon as they are eligible in order for other homeless individuals and families
to be supported.
