Darin – detailed update below regarding Castle Ridge Streets. I recommend that you forward this on to Council for their
information.
Thanks.

At a recent Council meeting, Mike Pruznick raised objections about the Streets Department’s inclusion of some private
streets in his neighborhood in this year’s street maintenance program. The Department had included these streets in
error as they planned work on the adjacent public streets in the neighborhood.
We have worked with the HOA and its property manager towards a solution; the City is absorbing the cost of the
patching and crack sealing, and the HOA has agreed to pay for the concrete work and surface treatment. A joint
notification plan and schedule are in place, and work is underway according to this tentative schedule:
Friday, Sept. 19th - Vogel Conc./ Start demolition and removal of concrete.
Week of Sept. 22nd - Vogel Conc./ Remove and replace concrete.
Week of Sept. 29th - City of Fort Collins Streets Patch Crew / Asphalt patching and then crack seal prior to slurry seal.
To be determined (TBD) - A-1 Chipseal/ Slurry leveling & Slurry Seal application. They will let me know in the very near
future the date that we are scheduled. We will be ready Fri., Oct. 3rd. Another email will follow once I am notified.
TBD - A-1 Chipseal/ Follow up sweeping
Project dates are estimates based on favorable conditions; variances may occur due to weather or other
unforeseen circumstances.
Although there are several private drives and private streets within the City limits, this kind of error about the
identification of streets is unusual. We have initiated a review of internal procedures to ensure that it does not occur
again. This will include some enhancements to record-keeping and internal notification, and may include a standardized
signage program for private streets and drives that will be phased in over time.
Mr. Pruznick also requested that the City take over the private streets, and we will provide the HOA with information
about that process. It includes review of the plat and development agreements, and an assessment of whether the
streets were constructed to City standards, among other things.
