Subject: Agenda Item #18 RE: Perimeter Wall At The Harmony Substation (Council SAR #26566)
Bob,
Please see the response below from Steve Catanach, Light & Power Operations Manager, re: your inquiry about the total
perimeter and square footage of the wall proposed around the Harmony Substation and how the cost estimate was
determined:
~~~~~
The perimeter around the Harmony Substation is approximately 1,504 feet. The wall will be approximately 1,455 linear
feet of brick with one 25 foot gate and another 24 foot gate. The total square footage will be approximately 17,460
square feet of wall face.
The price given in the AIS is a ballpark estimate developed from Platte River's experience with the Dixon and Timberline
Substation walls. An exact price cannot be determined until the proper civil engineering, such as soil analysis to
determine the depth of footers, etc., has been done. The IGA defines how the City and Platte River will work together to
design and construct the wall. Until the IGA is in place, Platte River cannot proceed with detailed design, which, in turn,
will define the cost of construction more closely. Should the price of the wall come in well above the estimated cost,
Light & Power will evaluate other alternatives.
