Gerry,
Please see the response below from Laurie Kadrich, CDNS Director, re: your inquiry about building height regulations
and parking requirements for commercial development:

From a planning perspective, we are currently evaluating a couple of options to address your questions/concerns. At
tonight’s work session, staff will be presenting the recommendations of the parking study that will include creating
minimum standards for both commercial and residential development within the TOD. Staff has prepared a budget
offer to update the Downtown Plan and one of the key reasons is to revisit the issue of height for commercial and
residential development.

Given recent development trends along the Mason Corridor, I think we need to review building height regulations and
parking requirements for commercial development. The recent Blue Ocean building opening and lack of additional
parking spaces has placed the neighborhood at odds again with the commercial development. Also what is the
appropriate height for commercial development along the Corridor to achieve the transit ridership desired and still have a
Corridor that is pedestrian and view shed friendly?
