Greetings,
Cable 14 is working diligently to improve the quality of production and broadcasts. As part of
this effort, we are installing new high definition (HD) switchers for studio and council control
systems as well as a new HD router.
This is a major infrastructure upgrade and will require Cable 14 production and live
broadcast to be on hold while the work is completed. To minimize the impact to the Council
calendar and other planned use of the video production and broadcast facilities in City Hall,
we’ve scheduled this effort to occur between Friday, Dec. 20 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Although production and live broadcasts originating from the studio and Council chambers will
be suspended during this time, Cable 14 will remain on-air and video playbacks will be
unaffected during the majority of this period. We expect a short blackout during the actual switch
from the old router to the new one, but this will be minimal. Cable 14 will provide additional
advanced notification of that specific changeover window as it nears.
During the first quarter of next year, Cable 14 plans to complete the move to HD with upgraded
cameras in the chambers, CIC and Community room. Please don’t hesitate to contact Carson
