Bob,
Please see the response below from Laurie Kadrich, Community Development & Neighborhood Services Director, re:
your request concerning the email you received from Cindy Bolton below:

This house is the primary reason we are bringing the Exterior Property Maintenance Codes to Council tonight (I’m sure
you’ll recognize some of the photos). Many of the photos attached to Cindy’s email show items that would/could be
addressed by the proposed changes (Deficient Structure and Excessive Storage of Materials). The ones that show items
in the backyard will be addressed in Phase 2 – going to Council November 5th.
Engineering staff is working on the rock wall issue. Rob Mosbey, Engineering Project Manager, visited the site last
Monday, September 9th to check on John’s (the owner) progress. It did not appear much additional work had been
completed; however, he was making an attempt. He did leave me a message last week that made me think he was
going to stop working. Rob inspected the site again this morning. John was given an extension on his final notice until
the end of September to complete his work for us. Each Monday, Rob has been driving by to check on his work (just
didn’t get by yesterday). If he’s stopped working or making reasonable progress, I’ll ask Engineering staff to take care of
removing the items from the right-of-way.
Code Compliance has written this property up for 54 code violations since 1999 - for items that we have been able to
address with our current codes.

Hello:
I am planning to attend and speak at the City Council Meeting Tues night
9/17/13.
I would like to have you view these photos that support my public comment
on code
compliance.
I have been battling a code compliance neighbor since 1994. I have a folder
full of correspondence and
many emails saved related to this case. In all of the years of fighting
there has been no resolution,
the property continues to look worse. The pictures showcase the changes
from 2006 to 2012. I first contacted
Polly Lauridsen in 2005 for help when communication with Mayor Martinez and
Darin Atteberry failed to elicit action. I also have past correspondence
from Mr. Troxell from 2008 who felt this situation was "not bad" or worthy
of any more time. I am saddened, tired and frankly very disappointed in the
responsive action that has NOT happened after years of asking for help.
Please, for one moment, think about what you would feel or do if YOU lived
next door to this neighbor.
It is imperative for the future beautification of our City to tighten the
reigns on these code violators.
I look forward to the meeting.
Sincerely,
Cindy Bolton
