This project, known as our West Main Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement Project, will ensure safe, reliable service to our current and new customers along the Front Range, including your constituents. Work in Larimer and Weld counties started last year and is expected to continue through 2014. Work in Boulder County starts in 2014 and is expected to continue through 2015. In 2013, as part of Xcel Energy's statewide program of investments to modernize its natural gas infrastructure, we are replacing approximately 16 miles of natural gas pipeline in Fort Collins and Loveland. This work will result in improved service reliability, help Xcel Energy maintain the safety of the system and meet the future need for natural gas. Starting in May, two construction crews are working simultaneously in Fort Collins and Loveland. In Fort Collins, construction starts at McClelland Drive and Thunderbird Drive and heads south on McClelland. Our crews start preliminary work locating existing underground utilities on May 2, and start construction on May 14. Traffic control will be set up in the work zone starting on May 13. Flaggers will close McClelland for two weeks starting on May 13. After that time, flaggers will maintain two-way traffic during general construction hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. After this work is done, our crews then will install approximately seven miles of new natural gas pipeline along South Shield Street from West 57th Street to West Horsetooth Road, east along West Horsetooth Road, and north along the railroad tracks and McClelland Drive for one mile. See the route map. We expect our work to last until the end of the year, weather permitting. General construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For your reference, we have included a copy of the letter from our contractor and the construction brochure that was distributed to those directly impacted by our work. We ask that if you have a newsletter, website or Facebook page, please share information about these projects with your constituents. You and your constituents can receive regular construction updates on our West Main Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement Project website and on the project hotline 1-855-875-7633. You also can sign up to receive regular email updates and contact us through the website or by emailing us at info@xcelenergywestmainpipeline.com. However, if you have questions or would like additional information about the project, please contact me directly.
