May, Fort Collins Chamber Of Commerce, Re: Agenda Item #28 - Foothills Mall Redevelopment Business Assistance AgreementMay 7, 2013 Fort Collins City Council 300 LaPorte Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80521 Dear Mayor Weikunat, Mayor Pro Tem Horak, and Council Members Campana, Cunniff, Overbeck, Poppaw and Troxell; The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce supports the adoption of the Foothills Mall Redevelopment Business Assistance Agreement. This project will serve as a primary catalyst for revitalizing midtown Fort Collins, spurring the return of Fort Collins to the retail leader of Northern Colorado. This visionary project will attract new shoppers to the community while reducing the leakage of sales tax revenue to areas outside of Fort Collins. This investment package leverages new dollars generated by the project for key public investments that will benefit the entire community with the first full year of tax receipts projected to be greater than current tax receipts for this same property. We were especially pleased to see the City take a leadership role with the developer to avoid the use of eminent domain in the final redevelopment. We encourage the Council to support the redevelopment of our midtown area and the Foothills Mall by voting yes on the Foothills Mall Redevelopment Business Assistance Agreement. Sincerely, Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce David L. May President & CEO cc: Darin Atteberry May 7, 2013 City Council Meeting Agenda Item #28
