They got sued for creating a ban on fracing and Fort Collins will also get sued as Governor Hickenlooper and the Attorney General stand firm on the issue — they support hydraulic fracturing and they have every reason to support this technology. The majority of Coloradans also support this technology. In the history of hydraulic fracturing in Colorado, the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has never connected this technology to environmental or human degradation. There is no reason to support this ballot measure unless you want to help push the agenda of outside activists and a VERY small group of Colorado citizens who will take every measure possible to try to stop energy development. Energy production is critical to the state of Colorado, its communities and the United States. Our vast and proven reserves can only be developed if hydraulic fracturing is used. The COGCC takes their job seriously and ensures the technology is practiced safe. Ever -evolving rules and checks and balances are created to make sure the health of our environment and citizens is not compromised. In over 50 years the state of Colorado cannot point to one instance where degradation was caused by hydraulic fracturing. Environmental activists are embracing the opportunity to push their personal agenda forward by influencing Fort Collins in a negative and manipulative fashion. We need to ignore the public debate, as it is infested with misinformation, half-truths and outright lies about the technology. Instead, we need to focus on what experts say. According to the Obama Administration and the EPA, this technology is safe. Don't pursue this discussion if you care about the people in Fort Collins as it will stifle the jobs and economic benefits they will receive from the oil and gas industry.
