The MAX construction project team would like to inform you of a major road closure happening in early 2013. There will be a full closure at Prospect and Mason (at the railroad tracks) beginning in early March. Prospect will remain closed for approximately 6-8 weeks to complete necessary utility and road surface work in advance of the guideway construction. The detailed construction schedule and specific duration of the closure are yet to be determined. Options are being discussed to expedite work, to minimize traffic impacts and achieve high quality work that is done safely and on time. The scope of work is very complex and requires multiple agencies and contractors to work within a small area at the same time. The construction schedule will take advantage of simultaneous work by different departments and agencies, and evening and weekend work when possible. A detailed detour plan is also in production. A comprehensive public outreach plan will be implemented well in advance of the closure. MAX construction has necessitated extensive utility work that impacts the traveling public where road crossings occur. The guideway surface requires new storm water infrastructure to drain water and snow melt. Two utilities crossings have occurred already at Harmony and Mason and Horsetooth and Mason. A mid -project check in with City Council, with a more thorough construction update as well as a financial update, is scheduled for the April 23 Work Session.
