MEMORANDUM

RE: Agenda Item #21 - Amendment to Ordinance No. 30
Staff is recommending that Ordinance No. 30, within item #21 under discussion, should be adopted
with the following amendment:
I move that Council adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 030, Amending Article V of Chapter 7 of the
Code of the City of Fort Collins to Clarify and Revise the Restrictions and Requirements Related to
Campaign Contributions in City Elections, with an amend ment substituting in Section 2 of the
Ordinance, which amends Code Section 7-135(a), “for Denver-Aurora-Lakewood” in the place of
“Denver-Boulder-Greeley”.
The Denver-Aurora-Lakewood is the commonly used index for calculating inflation, which is proposed
to be used in the calculation of campaign contribution maximums. The phrase “or its successor index”
is already referenced in the published version of the Ordinance , allowing for future updates to the
referenced inflation index without updating the code provision.
