RE: Community Welcome 2023
The City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University will host the 23rd annual
Community Welcome event on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 4:00pm.-8:30pm.
Remarks by the City Manager of Fort Collins and the President of Colorado State
University will take place from 5:00-5:30 in the Lory Student Center Grand Ballroom at
CSU.
What is Community Welcome?
The goal of the event is to help foster a sense of community and connection between
students and long-term Fort Collins residents alike. Over 200 volunteers made up of
CSU students and staff, City employees, and Fort Collins & CSU police go door-to-door
visiting homes in neighborhoods close to the main campus. Teams welcome
newcomers to the community, educate folks on key ordinances that might affect them,
elaborate on community resources that are available, and discuss how to be a good
neighbor.
Community Welcome is truly a collaborative effort that reaches nearly 1,500 homes.
The organizing committee is comprised of members from the CSU Vice President for
Student Affairs Office, Off-Campus Life, Fort Collins Neighborhood Services Office,
CSU Police Department, and Fort Collins Police Services. Community Welcome is seen
as a model program across the nation for community building and several communities
have inquired about duplicating our efforts in their own college towns.

This will be a fun engaging evening and we hope you’ll be able to attend. Dinner and
dessert will be provided in the Lory Student Center Grand Ballroom.
