Priorities and milestones are tracked and reported through Clear Point and updates are provided every-other month. Background: Every two years, following a Council election, the newly seated Council participates in a planning retreat to identify priorities and confirm strategic direction. City Council identified 31 items as priorities for its 2021-2023 term. Below is additional information on topics highlighted during the May 10, 2022 work session. Traffic Compliance: The Traffic Unit responds to complaints of speeding through direct patrol, deployment of the radar van, use of red-light cameras, and through collaboration with traffic to install temporary or permanent speed indicators. Direct patrols are focused on areas where complaints have been received and at the intersections identified through the crash analysis report. Staff did hear C mitigate excessive noise. Typically noise enforcement occurs when there is another violation. Knowing that noise is difficult to enforce, police staff is discussing options available including the possibility of working with Code Enforcement. The Collision Reconstruction And Scene Handling (CRASH) team was called out 4 times in the 3-day period of Friday, June 10th Sunday, June 12th. Their response included 2 fatalities, one of which was a pedestrian crossing outside the crosswalk. Public education encouraging using crosswalks is planned. Regionalism: Following the May 10 work session, staff has refined the list of regional efforts/partnerships to better focus on broad efforts such as air quality, water, housing, transportation, etc. Recent updates include: Air Quality - Discussions on monitoring investments which may include purchase of a FLIR (optical camera to detect oil & gas leaks.) - Promotion of lawn and garden equipment rebates in progress. Housing - Northern Colorado Continuum of Care (NoCO CoC) is discussing strategic planning efforts across Larimer and Weld counties to better address long-term homelessness solutions. - NoCo Housing NOW had a June meeting focusing on maximizing partnerships. Speakers from CARE Housing, Loveland Housing Authority and Elevations Community Land Trust shared success stories and lessons learned. Projects highlighted were Heartside Hill, Grace Church, and purchase/conversion of public housing into for-sale homes. Kristin Candella also reported on the grass roots One Voice for Housing education and advocacy campaign. Open Lands: - National Fish and Wildlife Foundation RESTORE Colorado Program grant was awarded to Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) in partnership with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department (FCNAD), Boulder County Parks & Open Space, and Jefferson County Open Space, to control and eradicate invasive annual grasses across seven Front Range foothills open spaces.
