Councilmembers requested that staff provide a summary of the current regulations for accessory buildings in the LUC. Summary The Land Use Code (LUC) has several different terms for accessory buildings. These terms tend to be used interchangeably, but they often have distinct differences. As mentioned in the work session, the project team intends to clear up this confusion with the update to the LUC currently underway. The following table is a summary of the different nuances of each term used in the existing LUC. It outlines which types of structures are allowed to have kitchens and short-term rental licenses, and also indicates which types of accessory buildings must receive a certificate of occupancy.
