EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this item is to prepare a motion to be considered if Council is ready to name and approve the
finalists for City Manager who would then be invited to the next phase of th e recruitment.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION

BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
On January 24, 2022, Council reviewed all applicants' materials for City Manager, and Mark McDaniel from the
recruitment firm SGR invited the semi-finalists to complete the next stage of the application process. On
February 15, 2022, Council will discuss the semi-finalists, and if they believe at the end of the discussion they
are ready to name the finalists in the Council meeting, either of the following motions could be put forth:
I move to invite the following candidates to become finalists in the next stage of the recruitment
process: [Names 1 through n] and direct Mark McDaniel to inform those selected to continue
and those not selected.
OR, if Council prefers to use a motion for individual finalists, the following motion for each:
I move to invite the following candidate to become a finalist in the next stage of the recruitment
process: [fill in name] and direct Mark McDaniel to inform them they were selected to
continue.
Alternatively, Council may wish to adjourn tonight’s meeting to later this week to to allow more time to consider
the selection of finalists. A motion for this purpose is provided at the end of the meeting should Council prefer
this approach.
