Subject: Please Review and Prepare for Interviews on Council Employees’ Evaluations
Councilmembers,
Our annual evaluations for Kelly, Carrie, and Jill are on Tuesday, November 30.
This session represents an opportunity to reflect and review our leaders’ performance and development over
the past year or the past two months in the case of Kelly.
Regina Romeo of CPS‐HR will be on‐site Monday, November 8, and Tuesday, November 9, to meet with each
of us face to face or virtually for 75 minutes to listen and summarize our feedback.
Attached are the performance evaluation questionnaires for each leader. Copies will also be a part of
Thursday’s packets. You are not expected to fill anything out. I encourage you to bring your notes.
You will also receive a performance summary memo from each of our employees tomorrow, Thursday,
November 4.
As you know, assessing and developing the three Council‐appointed leaders is one of our primary governance
responsibilities. It is critical to the success of these individuals, the Council, the City organization, and, most
importantly, the community we serve.
Regina will prepare written summaries for Kelly, Carrie, and Jill’s performance that you will receive in advance
of our November 30 session.
Engaging in an open, honest, and reflective dialogue is crucial as we work toward a shared understanding with
our Council‐appointed leaders. It is a chance to acknowledge their performance, provide coaching and guidance
and play a role in their ongoing development.
Teresa Roche and Jamie Heckman are currently collecting and analyzing market data from the selected peer
cities for these three positions, and more details will be forthcoming. This data will also help us set the hiring
range for our City Manager recruitment.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Teresa.
Thank you again for your time and support.

Kindly,
Jeni
