RE: Leadership Planning Team (LPT) Meeting
Mayor Jeni Arndt, Mayor Pro Tem Emily Gorgol, City Manager Darin Atteberry, Deputy City Manager Kelly
DiMartino, Deputy City Attorney John Duval, and Deputy City Clerk Heather
Walls met on Monday, August 9, 2021, and the following summarizes the discussions that began at 8:30 a.m.
6-Month Calendar:
• A possible executive session related to the Collective Bargaining Agreement has been added to September 7.
• A public hearing and appropriation for consultant services related to 1041 Regulations has been added to
September 21.
• An Appeal of Excess Water Use Fee at 1103 Wabash Street - Mountain Ridge Farms HOA has been scheduled
for October 5. Theresa Connor has filed a conflict of interest for this item and will not be participating in any
discussions.
• Sam’s Club Fuel Station appeal was continued to October 19. Revised notices of hearing and site visit will be
sent once the site visit is scheduled.
• The North College MAX Plan was added to the January 11 work session.
Deputy City Manager DiMartino:
• 2x2 Budget Meetings with Council will start tomorrow.
• Bohemian Nights event was cancelled due to COVID concerns.
• Leadership continues to hear about serious neighborhood concerns related to the Mennonite fellowship and
the homelessness situation near the Library. City Manager Atteberry expressed concern about neighborhood
safety. Chief Swoboda is meeting with the neighbors this week.
Deputy City Attorney Duval:
• Handling the City Attorney duties while Carrie is on vacation until August 20.
Mayor Pro Tem Gorgol:
• Board and Commission interviews are planned for the last 2 weeks in August. Council should be polled soon
for available dates.

Mayor Arndt:
• Noted that the August cancellation of Council meetings allows for Councilmembers to attend to other City
business. The month of August will be spent balancing priorities and completing work outside Council
chambers.
• She and Caryn Champine met with Adriel Hills residents related to the extension of Turnberry Road. Their
concerns are understandable and requests are reasonable.
• Asked about backfill support for Interim City Manager. Kelly shared that they are considering some temporary
internal adjustments to ensure workloads are manageable.
• Met with North College Citizens Advisory Group related to concerns around Albertsons.
• Met with Congressman Neguse related to enplanement credit at the Airport and the bus service with United.
He may be able to run an amendment on the infrastructure bill.
