RE: ACCOUNTING SERVICES ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SUMMARY
This memorandum is informational for Council and provides a detailed summary of the Accounting
Services Assistance Program (ASAP) administered by the Economic Health Office (EHO), providing
relief to small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
BOTTOM-LINE:
Small Business Support and Strategies that Create Community Jobs,
impacted by COVID-19 and the associated public health orders. These funds were disbursed in one
round with final payments sent to businesses on the week of June 21, 2021. A total of 45 businesses
received awards set at $500 each.
OVERVIEW:
The attached document provides a detailed analysis of the businesses supported by the ASAP. The
purpose of this program was to provide accounting and grant/loan preparation services to small
businesses so that they will be better prepared to apply for future programs. This program was tailored
around the feedback from the outreach done by the city among minority owned businesses.
Below are a few highlights of the program:
45 businesses complied with all the requirements for a total of $22,500 awarded by this
program.
28 women owned businesses received funds (62%), among these, 16 are business owners of
color (35%).
18 Spanish speaking businesses received funds (40%).
8 new business licenses were obtained by businesses applying to the program.
