Many mature trees on the site are believed to be relics from the tree farm. The site is known for many songbirds and raptors that are present, both on the park site and offsite on HOA property. The spine consists of a low linear wall that extends through the park. The creates numerous encounters for park visitors including seating areas, building walls and play elements. Neighborhood feedback received during design of the project revealed that residents feel somewhat disconnected from parks and recreation opportunities in the city. Residents are very supportive of the park concept proposed. Residents have provided suggestions for the park name, including Conifer Mountain View Hidden Forest Park After careful consideration of these name options, as well as many others developed by City staff, the name Traverse Park is recommended for the following reasons: o Traverse has both noun and verb definitions that relate to the park theme: To travel through or across.
