RE: August 11, 2020 Work Session Summary: 2021 Budget Preview
This Council Work Session item was focused on a preview of the 2021 City Manager’s
Recommended Budget. The presentation included a high-level review of process changes caused by
the pandemic and the financial assumptions for revenue and expenses. The major themes that are
emerging were presented along with linkages to applicable 2020 Strategic Objectives. Lastly, an
overview of public engagement for the 2021 budget was discussed, which leverages the OurCity
platform.
Staff heard several areas of interest from the Council heading into our remaining Work Sessions,
Public Hearings, and Readings, including:
Transfort service levels
Impacts to Our Climate Future
Rescheduling First Reading on account of election day
Confirming input from Boards and Commissions
Updates on revenue forecasting, including additional contingency plans for improving or
deteriorating revenue possibilities
