Utilities staff provided an overview of water supply planning, watershed and water quality protection, and highlighted key partnerships on the Poudre River. Key points or questions made by Councilmembers were: • Overall support for the activities and programs highlighted by staff. • Specific support for the Water Supply Vulnerability Study and continued collaboration with the other water districts serving the Fort Collins Growth Management Area. • Questions about Water Utility tap fees and the relationship of those tap fees to water use. • Questions related to how the City's water supply requirements and conservation programs compare to the other water districts serving the GMA (Fort Collins Loveland Water District and East Larimer County Water District). • Questions regarding how water reuse will be incorporated into the next update of the Water Supply and Demand Management Policy (WSDMP). • Direction to continue exploring underground water storage. Next Steps • Staff will continue to work with other key partners in the region on water issues. • Staff will explore water reuse as part of the update of the WSDMP. • Staff will update City Council on any activities related to underground water storage. • Staff will provide a more detailed overview of the Water Supply Vulnerability Study at an upcoming City Council Futures Committee.
