Present: Councilmen Honstein, Colwell, McMillan, Johnson and Councilwoman Quinn. City Manager Norris, City Attorney March and City Engineer Weiss. Motion was made by Colwell, seconded by Councilwoman Quinn, that ,the reading of the minutes of the adjourned meeting held April 9, 1963, be dispensed with. Roll was call- ed resulting as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Honstein, Colwell, Mcmillan, Johnson and Counci: woman Quinn. Nayes: None. The President declared the motion adopted. The following communication was presented and read at length: April 10, 1963 City Engineer Dear Sir: I would like to apply for a larger water line for our Motel. We now have a 3/4 line coming into a 5/8 meter. We have a 15 unit motel, a house and a 28 space trailer park, We have limited the trailers to 13 but still do not have enough water. We would like to have at least a 1z inch line and a larger meter. We will certainly appreciate anything you can do for us. Sincerely, /s/ Mrs. Louise Smith atone Crest Motel 1303 No. College Ave. The City Engineer recommended a larger tap to Mrs. Smith. Motion was made by Councilman Colwell, seconded by Councilman McMillan, that the recommendation of the City Engineer be approved and a larger tap be granted to Mrs. Smith of the Stone Crest Motel. Roll was called resulting as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Honstein, Colwell, McMillan, Johnson and Councilwoman Quinn. Nayes: None. The President declared the motion adopted. The City Attorney advised the Council that the terms of the.Municipal Judge and the Assistant Judge would_expire April 12, 1963, and if they wished to appoint Mr. Tobin ant Mr. John Kochenburger to Municipal court positions, that it could be done by a motion to the effect. After discussion, motion was madeby Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilwoman Quinn, that John J. Tobin and John Kochenburger be appointed for a term of two years from April 12, 1963, to the positions of Municipal Judge and Assistant Municipal Judge of the Municipal Court. Roll was called resulting as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Honstein, Colwell McMillan, Johnson and Councilwoman Quinn. Nayes: None. The President declared the motion adopted. The City Attorney explained the non -paid boards of the City and their duties and explained that the terms of some of the members would be expiring during this month and next month and that the membership on these committees be studied and appointments made to extent the present appointments or make new ones where the terms are expiring. In the case of tho; Boards where the entire membership expire on a common date, he suggested that staggered appointments be made at this time. He also suggested that the Council be furnished with a complete roster of the present Boards. The matter of the trustee ship for the Rockwell Ranch was brought to the attention of the Council, inasmuch as Mr. Ronald Roberts' term on the Council has terminated. The City Clerk advised the Council that Mr. Roberts had stated that he would be glad to continue the trustee ship for Fort Collins and Greeley, if they so,wished. Motion was made by Councilman McMillan, seconded by Councilman Honstein, that Mr. Ronald Roberts be requested to continue as trustee for the Rockwell Ranch for the cities of Fort Collins and Greeley. Roll was called resulting as follows: Ayes: Council- men Honstein, Colwell, McMillan, Johnson and Councilwoman Quinn. Nayes: None. The following resolution was presented and read at length: RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROVING AN AGREEMENT TO BE ENTERED INTO WITH THE STERLING PAVING COMPANY FOR THE MAKING OF CERTAIN STREET IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, it is necessary to make certain improvements to the streets in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, consisting of approximately 95,000 square yards of plant mixed asphalt overlay and approximately 140,000 square yards of seal coating, and WHEREAS, bids were called for pursuant to law, and WHEREAS, the lowest and best bid was submitted b the Sterling Paving Company for a total sum of approximately Sixty Nine Thousand Dollars (169,000) computed on the basis of Six and 35/100 Dollars ($6.35) per ton of asphalt overlay and ten Cents (.10) per square yard for seal coating, and WHEREAS, said bid has heretofore been accepted by the City Council, and WHEREAS, a contract has been prepared by the City Attorney in connection therewith) to be entered into by the City of Fort Collins and said contractor, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the terms of said contract be and the same are hereby approved; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and City Clerk be and they are hereby, authorized and directed to execute said contract for and on behalf of the City of Fort Collins; Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council held this 12th day of April, A. The City Attorney explained the proceedure of annexation and advised the Council that the following resolution was setting up a hearing on the Maxwellfs Second Annexation to the City of Fort Collins; RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROVING A PETITION FOR THE ANNEXATION OF THE MAXWELLIS SECOND ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS; SETTING THE DATE FOR HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ANNEXATION THEREOF; AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF WHEREAS, heretofore on the 4th day of April, A. Colorado Revised Statutes, 1953. That said petition was signed by the owners of more than fifty per cent (50%) of the area and who comprise the majority of landowners residing int he area of said land. That said petition was accepted by the Council of the City of Fort Collins on April 11, 1963, and that hearing on an ordinance approving said annexation will be held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, at the hour of 1:30 o'clock P.M. at a regular meeting of the Council to be held the 23rd day of May, A. D. 1963. That the landowners of the area proposed tobe annexed may express their oppositiol to the annexation and secure an election by complying with the provisions of Colorado Re- vised Statutes, 1953, 139-11-4.
