Meeting in the Council Room in the City Hall, April 13, 1971,
at 10:00f o'clock A.M. for the purpose of,administering the oath of office
to the newly elected Council members.
Present: Mayor Carson, Councilman Lopez, Councilmen Elect J. W. N.
Fead, Charles W. Peterson and Councilwoman Elect Mabel Preble.
Mayor Carson as presiding officer, asked that the three newly
elected members be given the oath of office by the City Clerk.
After the oath of office was given and signed by the new
Council members, Councilman Lopez nominated Mayor Carson for another term
as Mayor of Fort Collins. This was seconded by Councilman Fead.
The Chairman asked the pleasure of the Council for further
nominations. Motion was made by Councilman Fead, seconded by Councilman
Peterson, that the nominations be closed.
Councilman Fead made a motion that William Lopez be nominated
as Vice Mayor. This was seconded by Councilman Peterson.
There being no further nominations, motion was made by Councilman
Peterson, seconded by Councilman Fead, that the nominations be closed.
Mayor Carson commented on the unfinished jobs in the City of
Fort Collins that will be presented to the newly elected members of the
Council. All three members stated that they were looking forward to
this with much enthusiasm and would work with the Administration to
accomplish the many projects now under study.
With nothing further, the meeting adjourned.
