HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES-07/30/1968-Special136 July 30, 1968 ------------ --- - - MINUTES OF A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Held Tuesday, July 30, 1968, at 4:30 o1clock P.M. Present: Councilmen Carson, Troxell, Kissock and Bennett. City Manager Coffey, City Attorney March and Director of Public Works Liquin. Absent: Councilman Kruchten, excused. The Mayor called the meeting to order and requested the City Clerk to read the special call for this meeting. The Mayor asked the City Managerif he had bids on insurance to present for their approval. There were three bidders and two bids were received from each bidder. The bid proposal on a one year basis were as follows: Farnham & Garwood Agency $22,266.00 Galyardt & Harvey Agency 32,865.00 L. C. Wilson 20,491.00 These amounts are the total insurance coverage for liability, physical damage, umbrella coverage, physical property coverage, valuable papers, broad form crime and perform- ance blanket position bond. The bid proposal for a three year policy prepaid from the same agencies, were as follows: Farnham & Garwood Agency $63,520.00 Galyardt & Harvey Agency 96,473.00 L. C. Wilson Agency 61,473.00 On this policy, the total three year premium of the Farnham & Garwood Agency and the Galyardt & Harvey bid is payable in full. The L. C. Wilson three year premium is three times the bid for the annual premium. There was considerable discussion in reference to the three year policy and the one year policy and any advantage that the City might obtain from a three year policy or vice versa from a one year policy. One of the agency representatives spoke in reference to the 1967 policy which he stated was a three year policy and stated that a short rate clause for a three year policy would cause a penalty premium to be paid. After further discussion between members of the Council themselves, the City Manager and City Attorney, motion was made by Councilman Troxell, seconded by Councilman Benntt, that the proposal of the L. C. Wilson Agency for a three year policy with an annual premium payable of $20,491.00, be accepted. Roll was called resulting as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Carson, Troxell and Bennett. Absent: Councilman Kruchten, excused. Nayes: Councilman Kissock— The President declared the motion adopted. Motion was made by Councilman Troxell, seconded by Councilman Bennett, that the Council adjourn. Roll was called resulting as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Carson, Troxell, Kissock and Bennett.
