HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES-11/22/1977-AdjournedNovember 22, 1977 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO Council - Manager Form of Government Adjourned Meeting - 1:30 P.M. - An adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins was held on Tuesday, November 22, 1977 at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City of Fort Collins City Hall. Roll call was answered by the following Councilmembers: Bloom, Bowling, Gray, Russell, St. Croix and Wilkinson. Absent: Councilman Suinn. Staff Members Present: Lanspery, Lewis. Sanfilippo, Polifka, Phillips, Ferluga, Krempel and Balok. Also: City Attorney Arthur March, Jr. Contract Authorized for Spring Creek Relief Sewer Following is the City Manager's memorandum and recommendation: "Council previously authorized City staff to pursue the design and construction of Spring Creek Relief Sewer. To date design and construction is underway. Accelerating development in the service area requires that design and construction of Stage II begin immediately. We have subse- quently discussed the preparation of plans and specifications for Stage II of the Relief Sewer with two engineering firms. Water and Sewer Utilities staff recommend that the firm of Hogan and Olhausen be retained for design purposes. A copy of their proposal is attached. We are requesting that Council authorize the Administration to enter into an engineering contract with Hogan and Olhausen for design work. We estimate that the fee for this work would be between $59,000 and $70,000. If approved, plans would be ready by January with construction to begin immediately thereafter. Recommendation: The Administration recommends that Council authorize t e Administration to enter into a contract with Hogan and Olhausen for the design of Spring Creek Relief Sewer "Stage II." Councilwoman Gray made a motion, seconded by Councilman St. Croix to adopt the recommendation of the administration. Yeas: Council - members Bloom, Bowling, Gray, Russell, St. Croix and Wilkinson. Nays: None. 318 November 22, 1977 Ordinance Authorized Amending the Mechanical Code Councilman Bowling stated problems continue to come up regarding the mechanical code requirement for ladders on one story buildings. He indicated a wish to modify this for safety reasons. Councilman Wilkinson concurred that ladders were a safety hazard. City Attorney March stated this would require an ordinance change, but recommended the administration work with the Building Board of Appeals. Council concurred in this recommendation. Communication Councilwoman Gray requested the Mayor or the Administration express a Citizen's Appreciation to the Police Department and the news media for the coverage which has recently been given in the Rape Prevention Program.
