HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES-04/13/1993-OrganizationalApril 13, 1993 ' COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO Council -Manager Form of Government Organizational Meeting - 10:00 a.m. An organizational meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins was held on Tuesday, April 13, 1993, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the City of Fort Collins City Hall. Roll call was answered by the following Councilmembers: Azari, Edwards, Horak, Kirkpatrick, Kneeland, Maxey and Winokur. Staff Members Present: Burkett, Krajicek, Roy. Also Present: Newly elected Councilmembers Alan Apt, Gina Janett and Bob McCluskey. Swearing in of New Councilmembers City Clerk Wanda Krajicek administered the oath of office to District 1 Councilmember Gina Janett, District 3 Councilmember Bob McCluskey, District 4 Councilmember Chris Kneeland, District 5 Councilmember Alan Apt, and District 6 Councilmember Gerry Horak. Councilmembers Janett, McCluskey, Kneeland, Apt and Horak took their seats at the Council desk. Councilmember Winokur welcomed newly appointed Councilmembers and returning Councilmembers. Councilmember Horak thanked his family for their support during the election and stated he looked forward to serving District 6. Councilmember Kneeland thanked former Councilmembers for the help and guidance they had given her when she was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Councilmember Fromme. She thanked her family for their support during her campaign. Councilmember McCluskey expressed appreciation for the assistance and support he received from family and friends during his campaign. Councilmember Janett thanked the people who worked on her campaign. Councilmember Apt thanked family, friends and voters in District 5 for their support. Mayor Azari welcomed the Councilmembers and spoke of; the', quality of. leadership of the former Council. She also recognized her family and thanked'them for their support. LffL• Swearing in of Mayor City Clerk Wanda Krajicek administered the oath of office to Mayor Ann Azari. ' Election of Mayor Pro Tem Mayor Azari asked who would like to serve in the capacity as Mayor Pro Tem to form the City's leadership team. Councilmember Horak expressed interest in the position of Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Azari stated she supported Councilmember Horak's nomination stating she believed strong leadership for the City would be given from a variety of prospectives. Councilmember Janett made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Apt, to nominate Councilmember Horak as Mayor Pro Tem. Councilmember Janett supported Councilmember Horak's nomination. Councilmember Horak spoke of his reasons for wanting to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Councilmember Winokur spoke in support of Councilmember Horak's nomination and stated his past and present experiences on Council provide him the experience and knowledge to,assume the position of Mayor Pro Tem. Councilmember Kneeland stated she supported Councilmember Horak's nomination as Mayor Pro Tem. ' The vote on Councilmember Janett's motion was as follows: Yeas: Councilmembers Apt, Azari, Horak, Janett, Kneeland, McCloskey and Winokur. Nays: None. THE MOTION CARRIED. City Clerk Wanda Krajicek administered the oath of office to Councilmember Horak as Mayor Pro Tem. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m. Mayor 499
