HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 10/20/2020 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING OCTOBER 29, 2020 AS AEROSPA PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Colorado is now the second highest per capita, and total number, aerospace state in the nation boasting tens of thousands of workers at hundreds of aerospace companies around Colorado, all working to explore the clouds and beyond; and WHEREAS, Colorado is home to the FAA-approved Colorado Air & Space Port, a permanent aerospace industry champion and other key entities to drive economic growth; and WHEREAS, the Centennial State is a mile closer to space; and WHEREAS, the mission of Wings Over the Rockies is to educate and inspire all people about aviation and space endeavors of the past present and future; and WHEREAS, the organization aims to grow on decades of success to further Colorado’s place in the national aerospace landscape through organizational evolution, partnerships and continued integration into Colorado’s robust aerospace scene; and WHEREAS, aerospace education is critical for the youth of today, which is supported by Northern Colorado through multiple piloted and remotely piloted flight training schools and educational pathway programs; and WHEREAS, Colorado State University has created an Aerospace Engineering degree program to respond to the growing need for aerospace engineers in Colorado; and WHEREAS, the Northern Colorado Regional Airport plays a vital role in the aerospace community serving as an aerospace gateway and economic hub supporting over 1,000 jobs and $296 million in annual economic impact. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby declare October 29, 2020 as AEROSPACE ALLEY DAY in honor of Colorado’s significant contribution to the aerospace industry.
