WHEREAS, water is our most valuable economic, environmental and recreational
natural resource, and safe transport and sanitation is imperative to protect public health; and
WHEREAS, wastewater treatment workers consistently strive to improve the reliability
of the pipes and administration of the processes that impact the cleanliness of streams, rivers and
lakes; and
WHEREAS, Fort Collins wastewater treatment workers include certified operators,
maintenance personnel, laboratory staff, sewer maintenance crews, field operators, biosolids
workers, industrial waste pretreatment personnel, administrative staff, engineers and suppliers;
and
WHEREAS, Wastewater Worker Recognition Week is a unique opportunity for both
wastewater professionals and the communities they serve to join together to recognize the vital
role water collection and reclamation workers play in our daily lives; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins wastewater collection system transports waste to
the water reclamation facilities for treatment to ensure the water and biosolids leaving the
facilities are safe, exceed federal and state standards, and contribute to a healthy community; and
WHEREAS, each citizen of Fort Collins is called upon to help protect our sanitary sewer
collection system and infrastructure and is a steward of the water reclamation and resource
recovery services upon which future generations depend.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim April 20-26, 2020, as
WASTEWATER WORKER RECOGNITION WEEK
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 21st day of April, A.D. 2020.
