HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 10/01/2019 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AS NATPROCLAMATION WHEREAS, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, celebrated every October, remains a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure that individually and collectively we have the resources needed to stay safe and remain secure online; and WHEREAS, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity; and to focus on how cybersecurity is a shared responsibility; WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins recognizes the importance in identifying, responding to and protecting against cyber threats that may have significant impact to our individual and collective security and privacy; and WHEREAS, critical infrastructure sectors are increasingly reliant on information systems to support financial services, energy, telecommunications, transportation, utilities, health care, and emergency response systems; and WHEREAS, the 2019 Cybersecurity Awareness Month’s focus is: Stay Safe Online and breaks it down into three areas of responsibility: Own It, Secure It and Protect It; and WHEREAS, maintaining the security of cyberspace is a shared responsibility in which each of us elected officials, City staff and community members, has a critical role to play. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim October 2019 as NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH and encourage everyone to learn about cybersecurity and put that knowledge into practice in their homes, schools, workplaces, and businesses.
