HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 05/02/2017 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING MAY 2, 2017 AS HISPANIC COMPROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the strength of the Fort Collins Hispanic community is a true testament to our many Latino and Latina leaders, many of whom have lived here for generations; and WHEREAS, the City engages the community to promote equity and inclusion, ensuring a welcoming, vibrant and safe place for all; and WHEREAS, the City celebrates the diversity of Fort Collins and our multicultural fabric; and WHEREAS, to recognize people who have helped build our community, Councilmember Ray Martinez has initiated a video that captures a few of the many Hispanic leaders here, including Jerry, Art and Rudy Gallegos; Lupe Salazar; Gil Carbajal; Sam and Connie Trujillo; Philip and Carmen Martinez; Mary Ann Sanchez; Paul de la Garza; and Patty Lopez; and WHEREAS, recognizing these leaders and the many others in Fort Collins helps bring cultural awareness and knowledge to the rest of our community; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim May 2, 2017 as HISPANIC COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DAY in honor of the Latino and Latina leaders in Fort Collins.
