RESOLUTION 2019-053
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION
TO GERRY HORAK FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS
TO THE COMMUNITY AS MAYOR PRO TEM
WHEREAS, Gerry Horak was elected as a City Councilmember for District 6 on April 5,
2011, re-elected on April 7, 2015 and has served for eight years on City Council; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Horak has served for six years as Mayor Pro Tem during his
eight years in office; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Horak has served as the Council Liaison to the Citizen
Review Board, the General Employee’s Retirement Committee, the Land Conservation and
Stewardship Board, Senior Advisory Board, and the Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure Councilmember Horak has also served as a member of the
Futures Committee, Poudre Fire Authority Board of Directors, Larimer County Open Lands
Advisory Board, Library Trustee Selection Committee, North Front Range Metropolitan Planning
Council (MPO), Platte River Power Authority, and the Policy Advisory Committee of the Regional
Transportation Coordination Task Force; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Horak served on the City Council Mall Redevelopment
Committee to advise the City Manager in connection with the redevelopment of Foothills Mall;
and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Horak has been a strong advocate of financial and
environmental stewardship for Fort Collins residents. Mayor Pro Tem Horak has guided smart
growth within the community and has had major input into transportation infrastructure in the most
prudent way, and is a strong proponent of regional collaboration and partnership; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Horak has shown his strong and continued commitment to
our community, serving three consecutive four-year terms as Councilmember for District 1 from
1981 until 1993; as Councilmember for District 6 in 1993 for a two year term until 1994; serving
as Assistant Mayor from April 12, 1983 until April 3, 1984, and as Mayor from April 3, 1984 until
March 12, 1985.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Gerry Horak for his
service and contributions to the community as Mayor Pro Tem and District 6 Councilmember.
