WHEREAS, each year, more than four million workers suffer serious job-related injuries
or illnesses and 4,000 Americans die in work-related incidents; and
WHEREAS, these incidents not only hurt workers and their families in the City of Fort
Collins, but also negatively impact business and the economy; and
WHEREAS, to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health
programs among workplaces; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Safety Security and Risk Management (SSRM) Team recognizes
the National Safety Council’s initiative to improve workplace safety; and
WHEREAS, during the month of June, all over the nation, Safety Awareness
Month is a public recognition of the commitment to workplace safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins continues to strive to be the Safest Workplace in
America.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gerry Horak, Mayor Pro Tem of Fort Collins do hereby
proclaim June 2018
SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
